The kit that I used was a Heller no. 80385. The detail on the kit was acceptable and for a model that's 420mm long, the completed product looked good. The first C-130's arrived in South Africa January 1963 and were deployed to 28 Squadron.

The original C-130 had a silver metal look. But was later changed to a all over camouflage scheme of olive drab and dark earth. The underside of fuselage was dark sea grey. Decals used was castle springbok that were placed on sides of fuselage, behind wing. Next to national markings were black serial number.
