The SAAF got their first shipment in 1956. All of them serviced at 17 Squadron and were used for air-sea rescues and helping the SA Police. The kit that I used is a Revell no. 04460.

The kit is of excellent quality. All part fit brilliantly. There were hardly any sanding done and all the parts lined up nicely. Also nice detail work on all the parts for a 1/72 scale kit.

The colour scheme that I used was the original scheme of the first ones delivered in SA. The whole helicopter is a slight metal / dark ghost grey colour with a black tail rotor.

Used springbok roundels on top fuselage and one centre bottom. Serial numbers are located on tail and one centre front fuselage.

All I can say is that this was a pleasure to build.
